HATIMURA TEMPLE


Overview

The idiosyncratic Hatimura Temple is dedicated to Goddess ‘Durgaa’ which is situated at Silghat, in the town of Nagaon district of Assam. During the reign of Ahom king Pramatta Singha this temple was constructed in 1667 Sakabda (1745-46 AD). In older days of Assam, it was one of the important centres of ‘Shaktism’. Goddess Durga is being worshipped here with the divine name ‘Mahisamardini’ which is also Known As ‘Mahishasurmardini’. The glorious Goddess shrine is positioned into a sanctum of the temple and the main idol of Devi is displaying the view of super extreme wrath and rage.
